Money
The little things add up.

SMALL HABITS. SERIOUS SAVINGS.

You don't always need a bigger salary to have more money left at the end of the month. Sometimes, you just need a few small habits that quietly stop your money from disappearing.

The uncomfortable bit

YOU DON'T HAVE TO EARN MORE.

Saving money is often presented as a discipline problem. Spend less. Stop buying coffee. Make a spreadsheet. Never order food again.

That's useful advice—but it misses something important. A lot of money disappears through decisions that feel too small to matter.

A subscription you forgot about. A delivery fee you barely noticed. An impulse purchase that looked harmless. A convenience you paid for simply because it was easier.

None of these expenses feels like a financial disaster. That's exactly why they are so easy to repeat.

The goal isn't to make your life miserable. It's to make the small leaks visible.

Small spending decisions become expensive not because one of them is huge, but because they happen again and again without getting questioned.

SMALL
DOESN'T
MEAN INSIGNIFICANT.

A small expense becomes interesting when you repeat it. That's the part we often forget when we decide whether something is “worth it”.

Move around. Watch the number.

Imagine spending an extra ₹100 every day. It doesn't look dramatic. You probably wouldn't even remember most of those purchases a week later.

But repeated every day, that small amount becomes roughly ₹3,000 in a month. Keep doing it for a year and you've spent around ₹36,500.

Nothing went wrong on any individual day. There was no single purchase big enough to sound an alarm.

The expensive part isn't always the purchase. Sometimes it's the repetition.

This is why small habits are powerful in both directions. A tiny unnecessary expense can quietly compound into a meaningful amount. A tiny saving repeated consistently can do the same.

The answer isn't to obsess over every ₹10 you spend. It's to identify the things you do repeatedly without thinking—and decide whether they still deserve a place in your routine.

Smart takeaway
Don't ask only, “Is this expensive?” Ask, “How often am I going to do this?”

REMOVE THE FRICTION

Make the cheaper
choice easier.

The easiest option usually wins. If ordering food takes two taps and cooking requires planning, the decision has already been made before you even think about it.

Change the setup instead of relying on willpower. Keep simple ingredients at home. Carry a water bottle. Pack tomorrow's lunch while you're already making dinner. Remove saved cards from shopping apps if they make impulse purchases too easy.

SMART TIP Don't make discipline do a job that design can do.
06
GIVE MONEY A JOB

Decide where
your money goes.

Saving what's left at the end of the month sounds sensible. In practice, there may be very little left.

Instead, decide on a saving amount when your income arrives. Move it into a separate savings or investment account before everyday spending begins.

It doesn't have to be a huge number. The important part is creating a repeatable system where saving happens automatically instead of depending on how much discipline you have that month.

DO A WEEKLY RESET

Ten minutes.
Once a week.

You don't need to track every rupee forever. You simply need a regular moment when you look at what happened.

Once a week, open your bank account or card statement and scan the last seven days. Look for purchases you forgot about, subscriptions you didn't use, delivery charges, impulse buys and anything that surprised you.

Don't judge yourself. Just notice the pattern. Awareness makes the next decision easier.

SEVEN HABITS.
ONE IDEA.
MAKE THE DEFAULT BETTER.

You don't need to become extremely frugal. You need a few small decisions that keep working even when you're busy, tired or distracted.

*Illustrative example. Actual savings depend on your spending, meal costs and personal routine.

ONE LAST THOUGHT
YOU DON'T NEED TO SPEND LESS EVERYWHERE.

You just need to stop spending automatically. A few better defaults can change where your money goes without changing the life you're trying to enjoy.
